Human: Russell Benefield Jr.
“My name is Russell Benefield Jr. I am a chef, a musician, an electrician by trade, and I am almost in nursing school. I basically started playing music when I was 10 years old. I mean, my dad was involved in music while I was growing up, so I just kind of always wanted to. Music has always been a part of me. It’s what I love to do. I’ve been singing in the car since I was 5 years old. I was 26 years old when I started my first band, and I’ve just gone from there. I guess you could say that the inspiration from my dad’s help growing up is what got me started. I travel all over the gulf coast, and I’m used to traveling, so it doesn’t bother me at all. My favorite type of music to sing is Texas Country by far. Everyone says my voice is set for country music, and that’s what I like to do and play. To me, Texas is the right kind of country because, no offense to the Luke Bryan fans, but it’s not Luke Bryan; it’s different. It’s like old school country, but in modern times, that’s why I like it.”
Prayer of Saints
I was asked to create a magazine cover and page layout for a class. The purpose of this magazine was to depict the feeling that comes with wearing tortoise colored glasses.
By enhancing the blues in the sky as well as the warmth that came from the sunlight, I was able to piece together a light, airy, warm feeling for this magazine spread.
